Hello everyone,
Hey everyone, I am starting a great project where I will be constructing my own drone and would love suggestions and advice particularly on parts that are made in India. Below are my aims and progress so far:
Goals:
1. Purpose- Multi-rotor drone capable of lifting and carrying payloads up to 4.5 kg.
2. Frame- Robust and durable to support the payload.
3. Motors- Efficient and reliable, preferably torque-based BLDC motors suitable for the load.
4. Battery- Long-lasting with good flight time
5. Camera- High-quality for FPV and possibly for other applications.
Recently I bought an Indian designed as well as manufactured flight controller.
Flight Controller- Omni Mini Autopilot Drone Flight Controller (https://robu.in/product/omni-mini-autop ... uct_launch )
Challenges:
1. Availability- In India, it is hard to find some components e.g torque-based BLDC motors or large Li-Ion batteries.
2. Integration- To ensure that all parts work together effectively.
Questions:
1. Which are the best drones available ? for example I have been looking at robu.in
2. What are some advice on how you set up or optimize the Autopilot Drone Flight Controller in such type of projects?
3. Has anyone here ever had experience using the K5 Propulsion motors on heavy lifting drones? Do they hold up or would it be worth considering making upgrades?
I’d really appreciate any advice, recommendations, or experiences you can share. Building this drone is a big project for me, and I want to make sure I’m on the right track with the best components and setup.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Congrats on starting your drone project For carrying 4,5 kg payloads I recommend T-Motor engines which are available in India Regarding batteries check out Tattu LiPos they have long lasting power I'm using the Omni Mini Autopilot and it works great Just make sure to calibrate it well
Regarding K5 Propulsion they are good but if you have the budget consider Foxtech motors They make a difference in heavy lift drones Good luck with your project and Id love to hear how it progresses!
Greetings, Andrew
