Hey everyone,

I want to use esp32/esp8266 controlled relays and sensors and need stable 5v to power them. What is the cheapest way to power them from ac.

So far I have considered gutting cheap mobile chargers and using them in the main circut that goes inside the wall switch board.

Thanks!

That seems to be a good option. You also have modules like this (https://robu.in/product/precision-5v-70 ... 220v-to-5v ) which you can purchase.

Mobile chargers are a good option. If you are constrained on space, look into the Hilink power supply modules. They come in different versions outputting 3.3V, 5V, 9V, and 12V. I've used them in a bunch of projects and they've been stable for the last 2-3 years.

You can also make one yourself a Capacitor based power adapter called
Capacitor Dropper Circuit
. Watch the following video to understand and build it from scratch - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkBnqTPMquA

Thanks.
