Understanding Electronics components

In electronics, components are classified into two groups
These components have semiconductor material in them like Silicon or Germanium. They add electrons, amplify current. For eg - Diode, Transistor, IC's, Diac and Triac (Used in making Solid State Relays).
Passive components
These components do not have semiconductor material in them. They don't add electrons. They just oppose ,boost or store the existing flow of electrons. For eg- Resistors (oppose electrons), capacitors (store electrons in form of charge), Inductors (They act as accelerator or de-accelerator for electrons), transformers, relays
Both Active and Passive components are important in designing a circuit. It's not like one is more superior, we need both.
